Operations & Projects Manager
Location: Amsterdam
Help Build the Future of Immersive Design
rene.studio is a small design studio led by artist Rene van Dijk. We create immersive visuals, scenographies and custom installations for the cultural field, from large‑scale dance events to public experiences. Nature, technology, movement, and materiality are central to our work.
To support our growing projects and evolving practice, we’re looking for a sharp, proactive Operations & Projects Manager, someone who can own the back end of the studio so the front end (creative work) can flourish. This is not a traditional producer role, but also not just logistics, it’s the operational heartbeat of a small and ambitious creative studio.
What This Role Is
A dynamic mix of:
Operational management (workflows, timelines, systems, planning)
Project coordination (budgets, deliverables, suppliers, production)
Studio support (team dynamics, resource planning, external communication)
You’re the one who makes sure things run clearly, smoothly, and on time, while also knowing when to flex for the creative process.
Responsibilities
Project & Production
Create and manage clear project timelines, resource plans, and budgets
Coordinate day-to-day tasks across multiple projects and external collaborators
Ensure technical and creative teams have what they need, when they need it
Oversee logistics for builds, installations, travel, and documentation
Operations & Studio
Develop and refine studio workflows and tools (Airtable, Gsuite, etc.)
Manage invoicing, budgeting, contracts, and freelance onboarding (with support)
Keep track of team availability, scheduling, and external requests
Support communication with clients and partners
Strategic Support
Translate Rene’s creative direction into actionable operational plans
Act as sparring partner on feasibility, priority-setting, and momentum
Help identify structural improvements, not just put out fires
You’ll Thrive In This Role If You Are…
A natural organiser who brings clarity to complex situations
Comfortable with ambiguity, you can find structure where there is none
Proactive, self-managed, and grounded (but not rigid)
Experienced in managing creative or technical projects (e.g. live events, installations, AV productions, architecture, festivals)
Someone who enjoys making a system work better
Fluent in Dutch and English
Familiar with tools like Airtable & Gsuite, or happy to learn
Bonus: You understand design/tech production cycles, are spreadsheet‑friendly, or have worked with creative studios before
What We Offer
A leading role in shaping a growing creative studio
Insight into unique immersive projects, from concept to real-world impact
Freedom to propose better tools, workflows, and systems
A small committed team with a strong creative culture
32-36h Flexible hours contract
Travelcost and a bike to get to the studio
Daily lunch & snacks at the office
Competitive compensation depending on experience
